NASA's 2018 To Do List (Unsurprisingly) Puts All Of Our New Year's Resolutions To Shame
January 5, 2018
We're sure that your New Year's resolutions are legit and all, but it's safe to say they don't hold a candle to what NASA 2018 has in store. We mean, c'mon, we're talking about astronauts here. These people are dealing with space exploration! What are you dealing with — a better fitness regime? Yawn. Sorry, we don't mean to criticize! If anything, we're jealous. We wish our 2018 goals included preparing to launch the next great observatory. Now wouldn't that be something?
Take a look at the video below where NASA lays out all of their kickass goals. It's pretty freakin' cool, if you ask us. Of course, if you prefer to read (you nerd) we listed them following the video.
NASA's 2018 To-Do List
Send a robot to Mars
Launch astronauts with American companies from U.S. soil (think something like SpaceX)
Visit an asteroid as old as our solar system
Search for planets around distant stars
Embark on a journey to the sun and fly closer to the sun that ever before
Prepare to send humans to the moon and beyond and bring them back home
Prepare to launch the next great observatory
Live and work in space for the 18th consecutive year
Partner with companies on deep space habitats
Monitor out dynamic earth
Track the earth’s water from space
Use space lasers to measure ice on earth and map forests
Fly an efficient and eco-friendly electric airplane
Partner with an industry to make sonic booms quieter
Fire thrusters with eco-friendly propellant
Improve space navigation
Find new ways to harness the sun’s energy
Celebrate NASA’s 60th birthday
Man, these astronauts got their work cut out for them! We can't wait to see what the future of space exploration has in store — with the way things are looking down here on Earth, we need a backup plan more than ever, right?
